If you can wait for a bit I can send you pictures of the new Holton backer and the WWCCA system. They are basically the same in operation, i.e. the backer moves back and forth. WWCCA has the better drive system, exact copy of Kelbly's but the Holton system is better constructed. The Holton system works on the principal of a rotating arm but it will give 2 dead spots, when it starts up and when it starts down. Don't misunderstand me the 2 dead spots are pretty fast, but they do exist. The drive system on the WWCCA backer is driven by a very small motor and relay switches. The system goes out, hits a relay and immediately comes back and there is no pause. Anyway here are some pictures of the new Holton.

It would be great if you get a setup like this.

Couple of questions.

- How does the cable attach to each section.
-What kind of motor, what is the gearing? Does it go like 4 min one way then 4 the next?
-looks like the targets arehooked upto the top of the fencepost are they just tied to the bootom with bunjee or?

Sorry Mike I did not think I had my camera with me and I did.  There were enough there.  I forgot all about it.  I did work on our backer with a few of the guys and the pictures of the one Bill put up is quite a easy setup to construct.

We will be setting up Holton this afternoon and I will take detailed pictures and good closeups of the system. I will send them o Rick, who has to downsize them to fit this forum. But if anyone wants the detailed pictures send me your Email and it will be done. I can only send 2 pictures at a time which is no problem.

I will take pictures of the drive system at WWCCA, you might best take a good look at them. Just as a matter of interest those 2 weights at Holton weigh 75 lbs a piece in order to keep the line taught.

I would be interested to see a dial indicator set on a separate post stuck in the ground with it's pad up against one of those vertical pipes that holds the whole mess up (target frames and all)

I'd venture a guess you'd see some change from left to right.

I have worked on putting that system up for three matches, (HOLTON) and I can tell you, you would need a dial caliber to measure the right to left. The upright posts are threaded in and tightened on a concrete pad that is 2 ft deep and about 18" across. And the right to left don't mean S___T. Again I repeat it is not the system I would put in, but it is "SOLID" like a rock.
Now I have to use Spell check all the time, what is this world coming too, EH!!!

Flex in the 2 pipes (2" pipe?) is what I'd be concerned about.  I don't see why left to right doesn't mean anything.
