Selkirk BRS August Match (Top 5 LV/HV/2 Gun results)
« on: August 04, 2010, 06:00:31 AM »
will be held the weekend of Aug 14-15 2010.

I will be there Friday fumbling with my rifles and gear.

Typical course of fire LV100 then HV 100 on Saturday.  HV200 and LV 200 on Sunday.

Look forward to seeing those that are coming.  Rumors have it that we can have as many as 18 shooters.

See you then.

For those interested in getting a taste of the Shortrange game this will be your last chance in Selkirk till next May.   There are 17 confirmed shooters with up to a possible 3 maybe's...................

For those shooters present I have a few items I am donating to draw for.  Not used but new........ :o :o  Unless you would like a few slightly used targets with some pretty UGLY GROUPS to add to your wall decor.  A folding chair with SBRSA decal similar to the chairs from the National shoot and a few bottles of Butch's Bore Shine Perfume.

Lyle is organizing to have lunch brought in both days for a small fee.  I will get a few cases of Pop to toss in the fridge that can be purchased for cost.  Just something easier than looking for some food and a drink.  Coffee will be on.

If there are any other inquiries just fire away.  Otherwise I am looking forward to the upcoming weekend and a chance at redeeming my performance from a coupld weeks ago.

Today 18 brave souls survived the duck like weather and brisk winds.  August is going to be known as the RAINY season at Selkirk.

Despite the tough conditions 2 shooters put on a clinic today taking the LV100 and HV100.

LV100
1st Dwayne Cyr .2196
2nd Lyle Linkaitis .2242
3rd James Garchinski .2452
4th Phil Nick .2654
5th Murray Benson .2672

Dwayne Cyr had the PLEASURE of small group with a .080 SCREAMER

In HV 100 our FREINDLY neighborhood barrel maker was on FIRE.

HV100
1st Ted Gaillard .1848
2nd Gord Wald .2466
3rd Peter Penner .2522
4th Herb Lang .2534
5th Phil Nick .2604

Small group was Lyle Linkaitis .122

Ted had a .156 agg going into his last target looking at setting a new Range record which currently is Co-held by Harold Wasnie and Maxine Seib.  He shot a ALMOST PERFECT target but had 1 shot leakout left that was hard to see in the black of the mothball.  He thought he had it until he was given the bad news.  He picked away at his targets all afternoon.  Great shooting Ted.

The evening was spent at Larter's Golf Course enjoying GREAT COMPANY and GREAT food.

Weather looks like it will be similar tommorrow so it is going to be an interesting day.

Just looking at the BRSC Records, Ted has shot a POSSIBLE NEW BRSC Record which is currently a .1918 held by Harold Wasnie.  I as one of the Referee's will make sure the targetsare gathered and all looked after.

NOT Related but VERY important to some...

Hello everyone.

Ian McMurchy was an Outdoors Photographer and Writer.  His passions included hunting and shooting.  He was blessed with many wonderful industry relationships that required he photograph / test products as part of his work.

My father 'accumulated' a lot of gear over the years.  He was well known for having 2 to 10 of everything!  We have been 'sitting' on this gear for a year and a half since his passing - it is time we started clearing it out.

We invite you to join my family for this one time 'Clearance Sale':

WHERE:
Regina Wildlife Federation main building (just east of Regina)

WHEN:
Saturday August 21, 2010  -  1:00pm to 5:00pm
Sunday August 22, 2010  -  10:00am to 5:00pm

WHAT:
We will be selling scopes and other optics.  There will be laser range finders and other miscellaneous electronics.  There is a pile of clothing - some still with tags on it - backpacks, duffel bags, sleeping bags, gun cases, miscellaneous reloading equipment, targets, decoys, tree-stands, gun cleaning supplies, etc. etc. etc.!

Everything will be 'final sale' - once it's gone - it's gone.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Regards,
Glen McMurchy (Ian's son)
Darlene McMurchy (Ian's wife)

It's over.................  What a day.....  Rain, rain and MORE rain.

Wind, Hah a understatement.

It was very interesting.  Can we also say SWITCHY.

First time I have EVER seen flags flip from one direction to another in the blink of an eye.  There were some very BIG groups shot and some small groups shot.  At one point in time I thought Dwayne was going to fall over from laughing so hard.  He mentioned what a HUMBLING experience and that it WAS.

Here are todays results.

HV200
1st Walter Mychalchuck .2396
2nd James Garchinski .2496
3rd Harold Wasnie .2753
4th Peter Penner .2802
5th Dwayne Cyr .2962

Small Group Walter Mychalchuck .206  Another SCREAMER.

Walter shot very well at 200 this morning for a man who only said he fired 20 rounds before coming to the shoot.

Lv 200
1st Walter Mychalchuck .3592
2nd Murray Benson .3662
3rd James Garchinski .3666
4th Harold Wasnie .3710
5th Phil Nick .3844

Small Group Murray Benson .288

Walter shot so well he took the LV 200 as well.  I would also like to say that was with an old Wichita action which I believe may have been owned by our friendly neighborhood barrel maker Ted.

LV Grand
1st James Garchinski .3059
2nd Dwayne Cyr .3110
3rd Murray Benson .3167
4th Lyle Linkaitis .3196
5th Phil Nick .3249

HV Grand
1st James Garchinski .2568
2nd Walter Mychalchuck .2642
3rd Peter Penner .2662
4th Harold Wasnie .2704
5th Ted Gaillard .2806

2 Gun
1st James Garchinski .2813
2nd Dwayne Cyr .2977
3rd Walter Mychalchuck .3007
4th Harold Wasnie .3059
5th Lyle Linkaitis .3082

James also took home the Edmond Amongard and  Jim Smola awards.  I cannot remember which goes to which but they are for the 2 gun win and the HV Grand Aggregate.

Way to go James on your 1st 2 Gun win.  For those who have not had the pleasure to meet James he is a gentleman who is going to be a force to be reckoned with.  He has a pretty good mentor in his corner..... Ted Gaillard.  I should also mention that James was shooting a Wichita action.  There must be something with the Wichita actions.  It shows us that the way Walter and James shot that the latest and greatest in rifle actions is not required.  Slow and steady wins the race.

Overall a great time was had by all.  Hopefully we can book a bunch of rooms at the Selkirk Inn and Conference Center for next year.

Finally on behalf of myself, I want to thank everyone who attended this shoot and especially the guys from Saskatchewan who have been away from the game for a few years.  It was great to see you guys and hope to see you next year.

Calvin, thanks for the updates.
It is good to see a turn out like that, especially considering the weather.
Congratulations to all the shooters.

It was a great time and it was awesome to watch some of the great shooters like Ted and James. I learned a pile for sure.

And thanks Calvin for the encouragement and for the wind flags. I'll have to do some major load developing after this and really practice with those flags. I thought I had a decent load worked up and I guess it is back to the drawing board for me.

I wanna thank Murray, Phil and Dwayne for all the tips and tricks as well. I took some pics and videos. i have to upload them and then I'll post a few here.

Thanks for posting your pictures MagnumPeanut. The outside pictures of the conditions we were in for the weekend look good. My clothes feel damp looking at them again.
