Just picked up my new JTR stock last night . and I have to say the finish on these stocks is fantastic.

For the price of these stocks why would anyone get a stock you have to have painted unless you wanted  something unique or weird.  And as for the  composite and wood stocks , well the price now is outrageous unless you have to have one.

Those stickers look good Rick , sometimes that's all you can win on some weekends.

I've won both patches and decals/stickers , I put everything into a folder so it doesn't matter to me which one you hand out. But I've never seen anyone sew a patch on their coat ,but I have seen lots of decals on tool boxes so everyone can see them.

From a monetary standpoint I think the decal is the way to go since we seem to be concerned about where the funding is coming from.

Yea Rick those were the good old days at the Barnett club in Burnaby. I think at some shoots we had 20 guys there . All trying to shoot the perfect score on fly targets then the quick dash down the road to the coffee shop for some serious shooting.

We had mostly BR guns at those shoots as we were fortunate to have Nobby Uno living in the area then and you could get work done on your gun quickly and didn't have to mail it away across the country. Lots of guys had Remington 700s glued into BR stocks with Hart barrels and they shot very good , now a days you wouldn't find anybody shooting a Remington thinking they'd have to have the custom action to start with. But you can aways get someone hooked by getting them to build their first BR gun on a Remington , then when they get the itch to improve they can go for the custom gun.

So it helps if you have someone locally to put the guns together , have local shoots and a good core of local shooters to guide/push the newer shooters along towards the goal of a full blown BR shooter

I'd appreciate it if you could make it the middle of the month , at least I could make a couple of shoots in Alberta

Tony
Sounds like a good plan to me .  It would be nice if you could schedule the shoots toward the beginning or middle of the month. Hard for me to get away from work at the end of the month.

The Mission Rod and Gun club  in Mission B.C. is going to hold 2 benchrest for score shoots  March 7 and May 2. Format isn't set yet . may be 100 and 200 yds for score or  200yd for score and 200 yd fly targets.

I'm going to ask the club where I shoot if I can hold a couple of score shoots. Now would it be better for newer shoots if we scored the "X" as 11 points  or as an  "X" . I'm leaning toward the 11 points setup.  Maybe the Eastern guys can speak up on the pros and cons of this setup as I think you have shot this before . Also would you have more than one class. ,  like  Factory and benchrest or ?

I shot a 22 PPC a  while back ( actually a long while back ) ,did allright  but still could not make it do what I thought it should. I had it re chambered to a 22 Waldog and the thing came alive, used H-4895 powder filled the case up shook it a little to get the bullet in and it really smoked.

Not saying the full 22 PPC is not any good ,if that's what you have learn to shoot with it and when you decide to rebarrel if you want a 22 go the waldog or 22-100 route instead.

Bill  You're right about the Sparwood club.  I think that they held the Western Nationals there one year back in the 80's.  How's Bill trommer doing these days ?

For me it was returning to active competition ( thanks Rick )  after a 8 year layoff. Going to Calgary for the Labour Day weekend  for the shoot and meeting new people was defiantly the shooting high light for me. Also the fact that I didn't embarass myself was good too.
