Some great shooting by BRSC members once again in 2019! The records committee confirmed the following records were set this year!

Sept 8, 2019   Canadian Record   Trevor Pfaff
LV 200 Yards      .1976" Aggregate

Sept 8, 2019   Canadian Record   Mark Dumont
LV 200 Yards      .1896" Aggregate

Sept 7-8, 2019   Canadian Record   Hugh Williamson
LV 100/200 Yds   .2159" Grand Aggregate

Sept 7-8, 2019   Canadian Record   Hugh Williamson

Looks like there are a few more possible records at the scoring committee, once we have those back I will send certificates and update the record book.

Fellow Shooters,

Here is the process for qualifying for the 2021 World Benchrest Team. There are a few things that each shooter needs to take care of to be eligible for the team:

1. Each shooter needs to declare their intention to enter the qualifying process by the end of February 2020. An email to rickpollock@shaw.ca registering their intention to qualify will be sufficient.
2. Each shooter needs to be a member of both BRSC and OFAH during the qualifying year and the competition year. This is per the World Team meeting in Calgary during the 2019 World Championship. Contact Carolyn Pollock at cpollock256@shaw.ca to become a BRSC member. To become a member of OFAH visit: https://www.ofah.org to register. Proof of membership in both organizations will be required.
3. During the competition season in 2020, shooters will need to email rickpollock@shaw.ca with evidence of their placings at various events to be added to the qualifying tally and roster of shooters. All sanctioned group shoots are eligible for points accumulation.
4. At the end of 2020 each shooter will be asked to confirm by email if they plan to attend the World Championships in Calgary and submit a $500 CDN deposit to the World Team to be used against the entry fee for the World Championship which is expected to be $400 USD.

Note: the qualifying ranking will be in accordance to the previous years format with your rank based upon how many points you have accumulated in the qualifying year. Points are awarded based upon how many shooters you placed above in your (6) best Grand Aggregates (LV, HV, SP) during 2020. There will be a cap of available points in each Grand Aggregate based upon the total # of shooters entered in the 2020 Cactus Classic.

Team selection will be based on this final ranking of accumulated points, and receipt of entry fee deposit, with the final selection taking place no later than December 31st, 2020.

Centerfire Discussions / Sheldon Charron - Filmaker BR Documentary
« on: September 23, 2019, 12:03:43 PM »
Shooters,

We all know BR is perhaps one of the greatest shooting sports, and that everyone thinks they know about, but few understand the game outside of the current competitors. Sheldon has been active in the shooting sports for years and is also active in the filmaking world. Sheldon wants to get the word out about our game, having recently participated in a few shoots, he sees that there is a great story to be told, but it is not getting out to the world.

He has asked for our support in this project, in whatever amount you can spare to get this project off the ground. Check out the go fund me link:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/benchrest-documentary

I will be contributing, and I encourage everyone to contribute in a corporate, club or sanctioning body capacity. The future of the sport could use some assistance and this is but one way to get the word out.

Thanks for considering this.

Rick

Congratulations to Hugh Williamson who is our Alberta Provincial Champion. Good time had by all. A few possible records set by Hugh, Trevor and Mark. Rosebud finally gave us a break and a few teen aggs shot as well. An excellent turnout for a last match of the season, special thanks to our out of town visitors, always a pleasure to host them.

Reminder to everyone our last BRSC sanctioned shoot at Rosebud, will be the Alberta Provincials on Sept 7/8. We will shoot LV 100 Saturday morning and HV 100 Saturday afternoon. We will rotate benches Saturday at the end of the day, then shoot HV 200 Sunday morning and LV 200 Sunday afternoon.

Those planning to camp at the range, or those needing access on the Friday practice day need to contact me for arrangements.

If you haven't already spoken to me, please let me know if you are planning to come so we can be sure to have the correct amount of helpers.

Thanks

Well folks it is hard to know where to begin when thanking everyone who made it possible to host the WBC. The visiting shooters were very complimentary about the range and the organization of the event. The feeling was we raised the bar for future WBC events and we should all take a bow for all that was accomplished.

We literally could not have done it without all our great volunteers and helpers over the last months and even years.

The support from the Rosebud Club and the APRA has been great, we could not have expanded the firing line, and re-contoured the range or expanded the clubhouse without their support.
The support from all our sponsors has also been fantastic, special mention to Korth and Plenty O Patches who stepped up as Gold and Silver level title sponsors.
Hard to count the volunteers who helped out, they made it possible, so my heartfelt thanks to: Tyler and Vic Edmunds, Tony Gauthier, Mark Dumont, Paul Ross, Daryl Skinner, Graeme Meyer, Hugh Williamson, Scott Stevens, Brent Nabozniak, Bob Richards, Lloyd Gilmour, Carolyn Pollock, Ashley Pollock, Larry Ottman, I know I am missing others, and my apologies in advance if I missed you on this list.
Lastly thanks to the target crew and scoring crew, we had nothing but positive comments from all who attended.

Now I am going to catch up on some sleep!
