It has been confirmed by the NBRSA record committee that Dave Brooks shot an NBRSA World Record in Sporter Class at 300 yds, a .2154" aggregate! Remarkable to say the least.

All, I just wanted to let folks know that Dave Brooks shot a potential NBRSA World Record at a Benchrest Match last weekend. Dave was using an HWP barrel when he shot a .2159" aggregate at 300 yards. This is under the existing record and will be sent to the NBRSA record committee for official measurement, and hopefully confirmation of a new record. Of note, Dave also shot an individual group at 300 yards that measured .291".

Complete results here:

Congratulations Dave!

Equipment List

The Alberta Provincials is in the bag. Congratulations go out to Mark Dumont who took time out of his busy schedule to drive in from BC and lay a beat down on the all the locals from Rosebud! Well done Mark! Thanks to the helpers and the Rosebud Club for making it happen. See everyone in 2021.

Reminder to everyone our last BRSC sanctioned shoot at Rosebud in 2020, will be the Alberta Provincials on Sept 12/13. We will shoot LV 100 Saturday morning and HV 100 Saturday afternoon. We will rotate benches Saturday at the end of the day, then shoot HV 200 Sunday morning and LV 200 Sunday afternoon.

Those planning to camp at the range, or those needing access on the Friday practice day need to contact me for arrangements.

If you haven't already spoken to me, please let me know if you are planning to come so we can be sure to have the correct amount of helpers.

Equipment list attached.

Here are the latest results for the World Qualifying. Not many shoots to draw on this year to say the least. In the event the World Championships are not held in 2021 and are instead moved to 2023 we will restart the qualifying in 2022.

BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / Re: BRSC Annual AGM
« on: August 03, 2020, 01:55:52 PM »
The Annual AGM was held at the National Championships on July 31st.

To note going forward, Selkirk Club has been awarded the 2021 National Championship at a date yet to be determined.

The Board is unchanged other than the addition of Joe Mendham as President. In terms of Committees, Mark Dumont has been added to the scoring Committee.

Minutes will be circulated to the BRSC members.

Another National Championships has come and gone. Good times had by all as the weather was perfect, probably the best in the last 15 years or so.

Congratulations are in order for Hugh Williamson, who is your BRSC 2020 Canadian Champion!

Thanks go out to all the out of towners for visiting us, and also to all the helpers including target crew, scoring, and BBQ dinner prepared by the spouses.

On Saturday we had a moving tribute to Dan Opel who passed away this year. I can say not a dry eye in the house, and Dan will surely be missed.

Lastly in the process of beating us for the Championship, Hugh Williamson has set a possible HV 200 Aggregate record which has been sent to the scoring committee for consideration, a remarkable .1845" aggregate.

Please take note that the BRSC National Championships will be held at the Rosebud Silhouette & Benchrest Club Aug 1st and 2nd. Camping is available, just let me know in advance.

I would also appreciate hearing from any out of towners in advance, just to let you know the procedure for accessing the Club. The Club will provide a dinner including a main course and side dishes as well as soft drinks and snacks on the Saturday after the matches are completed.

Of special note we will have a tribute to our good Friend Dan Opel, immediately following the morning matches, at approximately 11:30 AM.

Lastly we will have the BRSC AGM on the Friday, July 31st, in the Clubhouse at 3PM.

This looks like it will be a terrific turnout, as we are expecting shooters from across Western Canada and even further points East. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Sorry for the delay, here are the results for the Stampede Shootout.  Challenging conditions on Sunday afternoon! Good turnout. Always a pleasure to host a shoot and see the support from all the out of towners. Look forward to seeing everyone at the BRSC Nationals Aug 1 and 2.

The Rosebud club will host the Stampede Shootout this coming July 11,12. This will be a unique format as we will shoot all 4 BR classes at 100 yards over the two days. Saturday will be Sporter and LV at 100 yards, and Sunday will be HV and Unl. (5-shot).

Camping is allowed and those looking to camp at the range should contact me in advance to make arrangements. Anyone looking for hotel recommendations please contact me.

There will be a BBQ on the Saturday after the shooting is completed. The club will supply the side dishes and BBQ's and soft drinks. The shooters should bring their own meat to grill.

Friday practice day is available for the out of town shooters, just let me know in advance if you need access on the Friday.

Any questions please send them through to

See everyone there!

We had 9 hardy souls turnout for the Heavy Iron Championship in 2020. Bit of rain and a lot of wind made things challenging for all. Not all shooters participated in all aggs so we had 6 in the final Championship standings. Thanks to the Alexander who ran targets and to Keith who did the scoring. Looking forward to seeing everyone in July at the Stampede Shootout

Gang we are only 1 week away from the Heavy Iron shoot at Rosebud. This will be an Unlimited Class shoot at 100 and 200 yards. Saturday morning will be be 5 shot at 100 yards, Saturday afternoon will be 10 shot at 100 yards. Sunday morning will be 10 shot at 200 yards and the afternoon will be 5 shot at 200 yards.

You don't need a rail gun to participate, bring a bag gun and have at 'er. The range will be open to practice on Friday as well.

If I haven't spoken to you already please contact me to let me know yo are ocming, that way I can have the appropriate number of helpers on hand.
