Wow,
This is without a doubt going to be the best benchrest range in all of western Canada. Lots of hard work by all the volunteers certainly has paid off.

Thanks Rick for the results, been waiting to see how everyone made out. Glad the Nationals weren't in Selkirk

this year with the weather we had this past week-end, howling winds and steady rain for two days.

Our meeting is on January 09Th when we decide our shooting schedule for the up coming year, which will include the benchrest dates. We will post them as soon as their are confirmed by the club.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Found a site on the internet for the weather in Sydney, and it called for lots of wind for today and temps in

the low 30's. Lots of the shooters got caught by the results I saw at the 200 yard mark.

The site for weather in Sydney is   "Weatherzone Sydney"

The wind was yesterday, and today (Sunday) we had everything else. The day started out overcast and light winds, then came the rain and a small amount of hail. Lots of thunder and lighting in our vicinity and we shot targets when we could. Finally it started to clear around noon, now we had to deal with mirage and light winds that held for most of the day. It was to say the least, an interesting week-end. I am sure you will hear more on the shoot in the next couple of days.

Latest forecast for the Nationals is 24 degreases both days and sunny, perfect weather for shooting.

Just checked Environment Canada's website and they are calling for +9 on Friday, +17 on Saturday, +19 on Sunday, and sunny right through the weekend for our shoot on May 04th and May 05th. We look forward to our first match of the year.
See you there,

I "THINK" we will be o.k. for the May shoot, but we will keep everyone posted. As far as the river is

concerned, we are high and dry, mother nature just has to take all the snow she left us this past winter. It

is going slowly and we are monitoring it closely.

Centerfire Discussions / Re: Canadian Barrel Makers.....
« on: February 22, 2013, 06:26:19 PM »
Been shooting Benchrest since the early 80's and with the exception of one or two Hart barrels have used only Ted's or Rob's barrels and found them more than adequate for my needs.I would put them up against any American barrel out there. Just remember, a good barrel in the hands of a poor shooter won't bring home the bacon as you all know.
As far as Ron Smith's barrels are concerned, I never heard of him till this thread or were he has his business.
    Just my thoughts,
Murray

Off Topic / Re: Trauma Kits for range
« on: November 15, 2012, 08:28:24 AM »
Thanks to the Kenora Game and Fish and Dwayne for bringing this topic to light. All ranges should have a good first aid kit on site to deal with any problems that might occur at a match or function. Add to that a few extra things to deal with a gunshot wound, nothing fancy just the basics for stabilizing a person till an ambulance arrives if necessary.
Also what was talked about at the Selkirk Range was training for executive in first aid, great idea for a day in the winter. I for one am all for it as a course in first aid can never be a bad thing.

I think Larters would be the place for dinner on Saturday, ALWAYS good and no fuss for anyone. That way we can all enjoy the company and have a great meal as well.
   My thoughts only, Murray

Does anyone have any results from the Nationals ??

Selkirk had a blackpowder shoot canceled on Sunday for the same reasons as Rosebud this past weekend. Humidity and rain play a huge part is blackpowder shooting as you all know, anyway not a good weekend across the prairies on the weekend.

Should have been in Selkirk yesterday, cloudy winds from the south east to south west then to the west and gusting to 80 kilometers, welcome to Spring.

I have never been on a pheasant hunt, but one of the guys from the trap club is in South Dakota as we speak. I am just a Duck Hunter and I didn't even do much of that this year. Old Age? Maybe.
