Thank you to Rick, Hugh, Wayne and their wives for hosting a great event at the Rosebud range on Saturday.
My feed back is two thumbs up, and the fellow participants that I talk with, all had nothing put positive feed back about the days events.
Wayne provide a new level of understanding about the BR game which was/is muchly appreciated.
Thanks again to all involved.

Centerfire Discussions / Spring Weather
« on: April 14, 2012, 10:25:04 AM »
I for one have had just about had enough "Spring" for this year.
Not getting any incentive to go and shoot/test this year, with the weather being what it has been in my part of the world.
Hopefully a few of you are able to get out and get the shooting year started.

Centerfire Discussions / Shooting through conditions
« on: March 20, 2011, 11:09:06 AM »
Most of us have worked on shooting through mirage, and developed some guidelines for doing so.
Does anyone have some suggestions for shooting through a steady snow fall.
The way the weather has been this year I may need to learn how to do that for the June, July and Aug.
matches.
Edmonton area snow AGAIN.

Centerfire Discussions / Blended Powder
« on: March 18, 2011, 01:45:16 PM »
Rob/Doug,

Tell us a little about the blended powder experiance you had in AZ.
I have talked to Rob a little about blending powder, as he is about the only
person I know that has done it.

What powders were you blending?
At what ratios?
How do/did you get an even mix?
What are the pro's and con's?

Centerfire Discussions / Bullets
« on: December 26, 2010, 12:11:49 PM »
Well winter is here again, so we are into the bullet making time of the year.
While going through the rather boring process of swagging cores, I got to thinking about the direction
that bullets in the BR game has taken in resent years.
One of the things that I have not been able to determine is what effect boattails and the double radius bullets have had on the results in this game.
The hot bullet today is the Hottenstein (sp?) with many of the top shooters using them.
Prior to that was the double ogive bullet from Bruno's, and prior to that was Bart's double ogive bullet.
While in Canada we suffer from easy bullet availability, I am curious to hear what others feeling/beliefs are
on this subject.
What would you think is the optimum bullet configuration for BR and why?

And a Merry Christmas to all.

Centerfire Discussions / New Project?
« on: October 02, 2010, 02:09:29 PM »
The board has been a little quiet lately, so here is a question for all.
What winter projects have you got planned?
New gun, new equipment or anything else related to shooting.

BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / BRSC Exeutive
« on: August 07, 2010, 09:52:12 PM »
With the resent resignation of Jeff and Tony from the BRSC Executive positions,
I have not heard anything about getting these key positions filled.
I am unsure of a valid or viable method of getting these positions filled, but I would like
to suggest that we get a discussion going to scope out a process.

I would also like to nominate Calvin Yanchychi for the position of President.
Calvin has shown a passion for the game, and if he will accept the nomination
we are at least one step closer to filling the vacancy, and keeping BRSC
moving in a forward direction.

Well folks the floor is open for discussion.

BR Equipment + Components / Opel Bullets
« on: May 22, 2010, 07:59:52 AM »
With Rick's approval, I am providing some information on my line of bullets.
All bullets are made on J4 jackets, which are imported (US restricted item).
For any other bullet makers in Canada, if you would like to get a few buckets of jackets,
I would be happy to add them to my order (usually once a year) to aid in the added cost
of permits and shipping.

Opel Bullets are custom hand swaged, on carbide dies, using modified RCBS presses.
The equipment was purchased from Rick Pollock in 2003, the original presses can be tracked
back to the bullet maker Terry McKracken.
Due to time and costs, we are only making 2 calibers of bullets presently.
.224" caliber at 52 gr. on .705" jackets, and 6mm 64.5 gr. on .790" jackets and a 6mm
66 gr. on .825" jackets.

These bullets are match grade hollow point, flat base bullets, they are also used in the field as
varmint bullets, and the feed back has been very positive for this application also.

Current pricing:
.224 cal. - $28.00/100
6mm - $30.00/100
