BR Equipment + Components / 30 BR Package SOLD
« on: December 27, 2021, 03:36:14 PM »
I'm getting out of the 30 BR game and selling what I have left.

- Kreiger 17 twist, HV #17 contour, 22" barrel. Round count exactly 561. Came off a Bat 3L action, coned bolt face.
- Manson chamber reamer and matching FL sizing die reamer. 3 barrels cut. Ask for reamer print.
- 35 ready to go Lapua cases.
- Any left over projectiles I may have.

$550 plus shipping. SOLD

I would trade for a .284, 9 twist, MTU contour, 32" barrel blank. Krieger, Bartlein, Benchmark etc. I'm flexible on the specs except for the caliber.

Centerfire Discussions / Record 6NIA processing
« on: January 16, 2015, 02:28:48 PM »
So this morning I sent in my 6NIA but wasn't too concerned about the usual delay in receiving the application back because my current form 6 doesn't expire until April 13. I sent 2015's application in at 09:44 and received my approved copy back at.....wait for it.......13:40 today! Whoa. If I wasn't so surprised by the outcome I'd be bitching about losing 33% of value from my 2014 form 6. Hopefully the rest of you who haven't submitted your application yet, have the same luck as me. Dan H

Centerfire Discussions / 6ppc fire forming alternatives

Hey guys. What are your thoughts on fire forming using a wax plug and pistol powder? The theory is good but how does it work in practice?

Centerfire Discussions / Double clicking on extraction
« on: July 05, 2012, 06:49:15 PM »
Hey guys.

So I'm still having problems with case extraction in my Panda. The problem is noticeable after about 10 to 12 firings. At the end of the weekend I can barely extract the case. Needless to say having to pull hard on the bolt handle really upsets a guys rhythm and the rifle in bags! Throughout a two day shoot I will adjust some shims to keep the case sized properly but eventually that doesn't help. I had this problem using a Redding SB die. I then sent a few fired cases to Harrell's and they sent me back a #2.5 die. Same problem. A sized case with the #2.5 die measures the same at the case head as does a fired case I recently realized. Not even .0005" difference from what I can see. Would a #4 Harrell's die be the answer or is that a little to tight?  Thanks, Dan H

Club Events / Tacoma April 6
« on: April 06, 2012, 10:46:15 PM »
Just a little note from Tacoma. Great practice day today. Blue bird this morning but the mercury read 37 so a little cold. It didn't warm up much, at least in the shade as my nose never quit running. It was probably around 50 in the sun this afternoon. Everyone was giving me a hard time as I shouldn't be such a wimp coming from Alberta.  ::) Great bunch guys as you all know. It was nice to put some faces to the names.

Conditions were tough. Very switchy but there was a prevailing condition I found that would hold for 2 and sometimes 3 shots. We'll find out tomorrow if I truly found my tune or I just got lucky today with some of my 200 yard groups.  :-\

Centerfire Discussions / stuck primers
« on: March 17, 2012, 06:11:16 PM »
I'm sure we've all had the problem that when we resize our cases the primer gets stuck on the decapping pin and gets drawn back into the primer pocket a little preventing the case from being withdrawn from the shell holder. Talk about frustrating! Is there a clever trick to prevent this? This has happened with my Redding SB die and now my Harrell's die. I've considered filing the taper off at the pin tip hoping it would prevent the tip from getting stuck in the anvil. I'd rather not attempt this until I have a replacement decap rod assembly in case some unforeseen problems arise. Any thoughts? Dan
