Lots of shooters have been turning in great results with HWP barrels, here are some of the higher finishes I am aware of:
2017
At the World Championships in New Zealand all of Canada 1 team used HWP barrels and finished 5th overall in the World in the 2-Gun Championship. Hugh Williamson was 6th in the World in the individual results.
2018
Peter Smith was 2nd in the HV 100 at the IBS National Championships with a .1776" Aggregate
Rob MacLennan was 3rd in the HV 200 at the NBRSA National Championship with a .1939" Aggregate
Rick Pollock was 2nd in the Sporter 100 at the NBRSA National Championships with a .1670" Aggregate.
Hugh Williamson was 1st in the HV Grand Aggegate at the NBRSA National Championships with a .1798" Grand Aggregate. Earning 2 Hall of Fame Points for this!
Hugh Williamson was 2nd in the 3-Gun at the NBRSA Nationals with a .2073" Aggregate, missing first place in the 3 Gun by only .007"!
Hugh Williamson was 1st in the HV 100 at the IBS Nationals with .1732" Aggregate. Earning a Hall of Fame Point for this.
Hugh Williamson, Rob Seemann, and Rick Pollock took the top 3 places at the BRSC National Championships this year using HWP barrels.

congratulations on some great shooting guys!
good to see another local manufacturer of quality barrels in our backyard, we are lucky in canada.
-
I whole-heartedly agree - congratulations to some fine shooting guys!!

Peter Smith just sent in his results from last weekend at the WWCCA Fall Classic and his results are simply remarkable:
1st 100 HV with a .1046" Aggregate! Almost a zero agg! Possible NBRSA World Record
1st 200 HV with a .1824" Aggregate!
1st HV Grand Aggregate with a .1436". Another possible NBRSA record as well!
1st LV 100 with a .1542" Aggregate
5th in LV 200 with a .2253" Aggregate
3rd in HV Grand with a .1898" Grand Aggregate
1st in the 2-Gun with a .1666" Grand Aggregate.
Kudos to Peter! Well done!

:D WOW !

Way to go Peter, that is some awesome shooting.
Tell us a little about your equipment, bullets, barrel etc.

Here is the equipment list:
-
To answer your question, Dan - I have 4 rifles, 3 LV and 1 HV. All are Bat DS actions, R/R/R configuration, Bix N' Andy triggers, Scoville stocks, bedded and glued by Dwight Scott. The barrels on my HV and my "go to" LV are HWP barrels with Bukys tuners. For several years now I have shot Bill Mitchell's bullets exclusively and my chambering /gunsmithing is done by Randy Johansen, my friend and shooting partner. The magic lies with the barrels, bullets and the gunsmithing, not the components.
It was a pleasure shooting with all you guys at the Nationals and I am looking forward to seeing you next summer in Calgary.

Curious about the twist and grooves? Cut or button?
-
The barrels I use are Hugh's cut rifled, 13 1/2 twist. I have shot lots of 14 twist barrels from Rob MacLennan in the past and I shot Rob's 13 1/2 twist barrels in recent years as well. I think I have shot a little better with Rob's and now Hugh's 13 1/2 twist barrels. I can't say 13 1/2 twist is definitively better. I'm a little thick headed so maybe I'm finally learning to shoot this game a bit better.

Grooves?
Cut or buttoned?
Thanks
-
As noted above, I use cut rifled barrels. They are 4 groove.

Just received a note from Stan W. who just received an HWP barrel and sent the attached picture of a target he just shot. Saying it had been in the 1's then dipped in to the zeros. Conditions were breezy. Thanks Stan.

More results in 2019, this time from Peter Smith who was kind enough to list the six 2-Gun wins he had in 2019 with HWP barrels. Congratulations Peter. Well done.

Just got the targets back from the BRSC Records Committee - New Canadian Light Varmint 200 yard Agg record of .1896, shot at Rosebud, 2019 Alberta Provincials with a HWP barrel.
Was fun to go back to my match notes and see how it developed...
The details - 13.5 twist, button rifled.
Thanks Hugh!
-
It should be noted that Hugh Williamson had a great shoot at the Cactus Classic earlier this year, winning the HV 200 with a .1722" aggregate and winning the HV Grand Aggregate with a .1839". Well done Hugh!

All, I just wanted to let folks know that Dave Brooks shot a potential NBRSA World Record at a Benchrest Match last weekend. Dave was using an HWP barrel when he shot a .2159" aggregate at 300 yards. This is under the existing record and will be sent to the NBRSA record committee for official measurement, and hopefully confirmation of a new record. Of note, Dave also shot an individual group at 300 yards that measured .291".
Complete results here: http://benchrest.com/showthread.php?103515-Potential-new-world-record-set-at-Charlene-s-Meadow
Congratulations Dave!

Rick Pollock - 1st in Sporter 100
Rick Pollock - 2nd LV 100
Hugh Williamson - 2nd Sporter 200
Rob Seeman - 4th Sporter 200
Rob Seeman - 2nd Sporter Grand Aggregate
Rick Pollock - 2nd LV Grand Aggregate
Hugh Williamson - 4th LV Grand Aggregate
Rob Seeman - 1st in 2-Gun

A remarkable group was shot by Greg King at an NBRSA registered shoot in St. Louis on April 3rd using an HWP barrel. A stunning .083" in HV 200 yds, which has been submitted for consideration as an NBRSA record. Well done to Greg King!
-
Happy to report that Hugh Williamson and I had a great result at the Cactus Classic shooting HWP Barrels.
Hugh won the LV 100 and I won the LV 200. In the 2-Gun Hugh was 5th and I was 4th.
Spot the two Canadians in the attached photo!

Congrats to both of you on the wins. It sure is great having a high quality barrel maker local, and the results speak for themselves.

Will be using HWP barrels in the near future, looking forward to it.
-
Is Dusty Stevens in that picture.
-
Full results attached below. I don't think Dusty was at this shoot.

NBRSA published the equipment list for the 2023 Cactus Classic. There are 2 HWP barrels in the HV Grand top 10, and 3 HWP barrels in the LV Grand. Note Steve Horsley who has recently moved to Alberta and attended his first Cactus Classic and managed a top 10 finish in a Grand Agg. Well done Steve!
